On Saturday, March 8, 2025, the Amawbia community gathered to bid a final farewell to Chief J. C. Okonkwo (Apollo Stone), a respected figure and former President General whose contributions left an indelible mark on our town. The day was marked by solemnity and remembrance, with the ATU (Amawbia Town Union) EXCO playing a prominent role in honoring his memory.

Earlier in the day, the town hall served as the venue for the lying-in-state. This allowed the entire community to pay their last respects to the former PG (President General), Apollo Stone. The atmosphere was one of quiet reflection, as residents, friends, and family members filed past, offering their final tributes.

The presence of former PGs Engr. Chris Nwoye, Mr. Ebele Nwufo, and Mr. Vincent Odoh added significant weight to the occasion, highlighting the continuity and unity within the ATU. Their participation, alongside members of the Central Council, underscored the collective commitment to honoring those who have served our community.

Later, the burial proceeded smoothly, with the ATU EXCO, led by our current PG, Nze Chukwuka Odumodu, present to express their condolences and support to the bereaved family. The group was warmly received, a testament to the respect and affection held for both Apollo Stone and the ATU leadership.
Apollo Stone’s contributions to Amawbia were numerous and impactful. His leadership, dedication, and vision will be remembered for generations to come. The ATU EXCO’s presence at his burial was a demonstration of our deep respect and gratitude for his service.

The burial proceedings went well, reflecting the dignity and honor with which Apollo Stone was held. The ATU EXCO extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Apollo Stone. May his soul rest in perfect peace. We pray that God grants his family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
